25 Things to do this Christmas – December 1st

On the first day of Christmas me myself and khai gave to me the Trafalgar Square Christmas tree.

Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without the giant Trafalgar Square Christmas tree, which will be having its switching on ceremony this evening at 6.15pm. The lights will be switched on by the mayor of Oslo with the lord mayor of Westminster.

Facts about the tree

The tree is given to the people of Londonas a gift byOsloevery year since 1947.  It is a token of gratitude for the support that Britain gave Norway during the Second World War.

The tree can reaches up to 25 meters in height and is between 50 and 100 years old. It is illuminated by 500 vertically stringed clear bulbs (all energy-efficient), also this is a traditional Norwegian style of tree decoration.

There will be different choirs and carol singers performing through out December.

The tree is up in Trafalgar square until the twelfth night of Christmas, after which it is taken down and recycled.
