The horniman museum

We went to the horniman museum in Forest Hill, it was great!

The grounds are stunning; the children run and had tones of fun on the grass alone.

The main museum is free of charge like most museums and galleries inLondon.

First of all we went to the Permanent Natural History section. This is a large collection of mammals, birds, fishes and insect from all over the world.

Next we saw the music gallery which is home to 1,600 instruments from around the world.

And after all of that we went along to the Aquarium which is just lovely, it has sea horses and jellyfish, the most wonderful fishes and one that decided he wanted to play with my son and followed his hand movements.

It cost only £2 for an adult, £1 for child 3-16 and children under 3 are free of charge, what a bargain! Considering that theLondonaquarium is 20 odd pounds and not much more impressive, not to mention that children under 8 years old really don’t need more than this.

Was a nice day!

  1. That looks like so.much.fun!! The girls and I were actually just talking about the British Museum the other day and I was telling them about some of the exhibits, and they couldn’t get over the fact that museums in London are mostly free. (Here they’re an arm and a leg! We have memberships to a few because a yearlong membership is about the same price as taking our family of 6 for one day.) Khai looks like he had a blast!! ( I swear, he is so stinkin’ cute!!) I’ll have to show the girls these jellyfish pictures, they’ll LOVE them.

  2. I am truly grateful for the free admission to galleries and museums in this city, when I was a art student I’d be at a gallery at least twice a week if id had to pay for the permanent exhibits too it would have cost a fortune.

It’s so easy to forget how expensive these places can be and I can just imagine that with a large family you must almost have to take out a small bank loan to go to some of these places. But they are wonderful though, and children have such a great time and the world becomes even more wondrous and exciting

Khai had a fab time as did his friends, there was a lot of running, shouting and playing!

  3. Hi there! This is my 1st comment here so I just wanted to give a quick shout out
